What

The Wildlands Restoration Team was formed to protect and restore the biological diversity of the Santa Cruz mountains. Although this has required that we consider many kinds of impacts on the land, the overwhelming need for our time and effort has been to stop the spread of invasive non-native plant species.

Our booklet, "A Plague of Plants" (Acrobat PDF - 587K) is an illustrated guide to the identification of the worst invasive species in wildlands in Santa Cruz county, and the methods we use to control them.

Here is a list of the main target species covered.

  • Brooms
  • Pampas grass
  • Cape ivy
  • English ivy
  • Ice plant
  • Periwinkle (vinca)
  • Eucalyptus
  • Acacia
  • Himalaya berry
